Boksburg, East Rand: GENERATOR TECHNICIAN
(3 months temporary with possibility of becoming permanent)
Minimum Requirements:
-Reliable and mechanically skilled male, aged between 27-45 years
-South African citizen, physically fit to perform daily task (standing for long hours, reaching, bending, lifting)
-Relevant Trade qualification a must (Electrical / Millwright / Diesel Mechanic)
-Minimum 4 years experience in maintenance and repairs of Industrial Generators a must
-Experience with Diesel / Petrol Generators a must
-Good knowledge of reading electrical drawings and understand fault finding.
-Thorough knowledge of 12-24 VDC electrical systems and procedures, methods and techniques to design, install, repair and maintain generators, by-pass pumps, starters, pumps, motors and gauges.
-Able to do Electrical Diagnostics and troubleshooting on diesel engines
-Computer literate in MS Office, specifically Excel and Word.
-Mechanically skilled and safety orientated.
-Excellent time management and good communication skills.
-Good interpersonal relationships and judgement / decision making skills
-Able to work independently and complete service work on time within budget, and able to work well under pressure.
-Willing to travel for breakdowns, and willing to work after hours and on weekends/Public Holidays and Standby
-Valid driver’s license a must
-Clear criminal record a must
-Must currently reside in East Rand (within commuting distance)
-No lawful termination/dismissal at any previous employer due to misconduct or non performance
-Stable employment record and contactable references a must
-To start as soon as possible
-3 months contract/temporary (probation) with possibility of becoming permanent
Duties:
-Full mechanical and electrical field services, maintenance and repairs of Diesel / Petrol Industrial Generators
-Troubleshoot and repairs alternating current electrical systems on generators, automatic transfer switches, generator controls and engine related mechanical failures; perform routine preventative maintenance, oil and filter changes and inspections on all generator and by-pass pumps.
-Maintain inventory of spare parts and initiates procurement of replacement supplies and equipment as necessary; make cost and material estimates; collect data for preventive maintenance system;
-Maintain activity logs and complete work orders and reports as needed.
-Diagnose and repair any issues found during initial testing Perform voltage changes on generators based on customer requirements
-Re-wire, adjust and install control panels and voltage regulators
-Completing of Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) documentation
-Provide 24 Hour Technical Support for the Generator Set Division
-Attend to breakdowns on site as and when required.
-Receive, analyse, and report on faulty Generator sets.
-Assist with warranty claims, reporting and follow up on quotations
-Servicing of Diesel Generators, Replacement of parts and testing of equipment
-Operating and maintaining equipment used to provide electricity to customers during power outages or emergencies
Salary: R 20 000.00 – R 30 000.00 gross maximum (depending on relevant experience)
